Urban Church Planter
The Awakening Ministries of Northwest Arkansas is searching for a pastor or lay church leader to start an urban church planting movement among unchurched people in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The church planter will have broad levity to experiment with new methods of evangelism and church format, and no previous paid or full-time ministry experience is required. This is a paid, full-time position.
The urban church planter’s objective will be to (a) identify the group(s) or community(ies) within Fayetteville most lacking in access to evangelism and discipleship, (b) develop relationships and inroads within the targeted group(s) or community(ies), and (c) cultivate a new, self-sustaining local church. The church planter will have broad levity to experiment with new methods of evangelism and church format.
The urban church planter will use their spiritual gifts such as evangelism, teaching, leadership and encouragement to make disciples and start small groups/churches among the people of Fayetteville. Constant prayer and daily obedience to God’s word and guidance will be essential.
No previous paid or full-time ministry experience is required. We are not looking for a fully qualified or trained church planter; rather, the ideal candidate is a current pastor or lay church leader who has found success in similar work in the past, who is willing to learn and be trained.
A passion to reach the lost and gifts in personal evangelism and discipleship is required. These are more important than higher theological qualifications or prior experience in church planting. A willingness to listen, be patient, to pray for and with people, and to empower and equip them to take an active part in an indigenous and reproducible ministry is also a must.
Must affirm the Baptist Faith & Message.
